Donald Lee Ellison of Rising City, NE, was called to his heavenly home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the age of ninety. Or as he would like to say, during his 91st trip around the sun. He was blessed to have been able to spend his final days surrounded by family at David Place, senior living center.

Donald was born on May 27, 1933, in Topeka, KS, to Firman Allen and Florance Edna Roberts Ellison. He married Ramona Anne Burgett on August 23, 1958. They were married for 65 years.

He was involved in Boy Scouts, N Club, the Rising City school board, and the Educational Service Unit #7. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rising City and the American Legion. He enjoyed skiing in Colorado and tinkering in his basement.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona; and children: Brenda (Bob) Givan, Brad (Maggy) Ellison, Beth Anne (David) Philson, and Young (Tami) Song; grandchildren: Parker Givan, Ceilidh Givan, Cara (Christopher) Pedone and their daughter, Tahlia, Noah Philson, Micah Philson, Josiah Philson, Elijah (Anastasia) Philson and their sons: John and James Philson, Juliana (Matthew) Carter, and Truman Song. Also surviving are his sisters: Mary Jean (Loren) Stuhr, Ruth Ann Sargent, and Dorothy Mae Westphal; sisters-in-law, Ellen Jones and Janet Swanson; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his two brothers: Bill and Bob; three brothers-in-law; a niece, and two nephews.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Rising City on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.

Don certainly did live life to the fullest-so many interests & activities! We are thankful for having known him & Ramona through Scouting at first, then Shakley vitamins, pure water machines, hot water heaters, he was knowledgeable & interested in everything! He would stop through Seward & visit our family on his way to his many activities! On a visit to him & Ramona, they showed us their many collections & interests. We Even saw him at the VA in Lincoln. He took such an interest in every facet of life & was always thankful to his Lord & Savior Jesus. We will miss him & send our love & prayers to Ramona & all his family.

I have so many good memories of spending time in Rising City with my Uncle Don and Aunt Ramona and cousins. Uncle Don was always fun to be around and play games with. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this difficult time. Uncle Don lived a long life and lived it to the fullest. He will be missed and remain in our hearts forever.

My sympathies to all of you; I have many good memories, going back to his college years as a gymnast; to visiting the home in Rising City, to keeping in touch through WHS alumni meetings. He will be missed.
