Judith Marie Thomas

SPREAD EAGLE - Judith Marie Thomas, 57, formerly of Racine, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2005. Judy was born January 23, 1948, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Harley and Alma (nee: Anderson) Gardelan. On August 15, 1981, Judy married Robert Thomas in Racine. Judy graduated from Alden High School in Alden, Iowa and Dana College in Blair, Neb. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain, Mich., where she truly enjoyed being a choir member. Judy was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved winters, traveling, and her flower garden. Besides her husband, Bob, Judy is survived by a son, Christopher of Cedarburg; her father, Harley Gardelan of Popejoy, Iowa; two sisters, Victoria 'Vicky' Wiechmann of Flanagan, Ill. and Karen (Bill) Knight of Iowa City, Iowa; two step-children, Mark Thomas of Racine and Angela Thomas of Union Grove; step-grandaughter, Taylor Thomas of Union Grove; mother-in-law, Mary Thomas of Racine; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Gardelan. Funeral services will be at the First Lutheran Church in Dows, Iowa on Monday, October 3, 2005, at 11 a.m. Pastor William Straka will officiate. Burial will be in Otis Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, Mich. on Friday, September 30, 2005, from 5 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday, October 3, 2005, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers and memorials, donations may be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit, 1401 South Carpenter Avenue, Iron Mountain, Mich. 49801.
