My sympathies to the family and friends of Roger. The Al Mattner family have been longtime friends of the Palmen family. Roger sold me my first used car - it needed 2 batteries under the hood to start it up, but I drove it for 2 years. Drove it till my dad said the floor boards were rotted out in the back and he was afraid my boys would fall through. It is a fun story to share. Thank you Roger! From Lynda (Mattner) Day

Roger is my first cousin. Margie, his mom, was my Dad's sister, but Dad moved to California after WWII, so Roger and I didn't grow up together. We met briefly in 1956 and he was a very cute kid, ALL boy, and totally ignored his girl cousins at the gathering. But I thought, even then, what a cool cousin I have! I was right.

When my widowed mother moved back to Kenosha, Roger made sure she always had a good, safe car, and anything else she needed, I imagine; he was such a benevolent soul. It would take too long to list his many kindnesses here. We did get to know each other some in the past 20 or so years, and I am very deeply saddened that we won't be meeting again.

Roger was SO proud of his family! My heart goes out to his wife Terri, Roger's wonderful sons and his grandchildren, his sister Barbie, my and his Aunt Janet, and all those who were lucky enough to have him in their lives and are now missing a big piece of it.

He had the greatest bear hug this planet will ever, ever see. Roger broke the mold, and we're all so blessed to have known him.
