Oscar L. Evenson

EL DORADO - Evenson, Oscar L., 85, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2004. Mr. Evenson was born northwest of Eureka on Jan. 14, 1919, the son of the late Christopher and Linda (Erickson) Evenson. He was one of ten children. Oscar farmed and he also worked in the oil fields around El Dorado and retired from the refinery in El Dorado. On Dec. 21, 1947 he married Doris Marie Simmons in Emporia. She preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 1987. A grandson, Don Evenson preceded him in death as well. He is survived by sons, Logan Evenson and wife, Barbara, Augusta, Arne Evenson and wife, Raylin, Pretty Prairie, Ray Evenson and wife, Susan of El Dorado; daughters, Sharon Dennis and husband, E.C., Great Bend, Mary Patton and husband, Daryl, Garnett, Lois Carson and husband, David, El Dorado; sisters, Lida Moreland, Wichita, Louise Hamby, Parker, CO, Fern Wernli, Gridley, Leona Stroud, Wichita; grandchildren, Tina Evenson, Julie Tipton, Greg Evenson, Kari Hutchinson, Page Pound, Melissa and Miranda Patton, Jeramy and Amy Evenson; great-grandchildren, Abby, Garrett and Emma Tipton. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family to greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. and services to celebrate his life at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2004 both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
