Dear Lisa and Family:

I was truly saddened this morning to receive an email about Steve's tragic passing. Steve worked for my publishing company in the early 1990's and I always enjoyed being around him. His positive energy, solid work ethic and great personality were really appreciated. My heart goes out to you and the boys. God be with you.

Lisa-and the most beautiful sons ever! -I am heartbroken to hear the news. We have not been in touch for some time but I have only fond memories of you and your sweetheart, Steve. I actually remember many wonderful things about you-too many to name-and 'OH my god' when Steve showed up- what a doll!! You two were perfect for each other and I was so happy for you. Lisa, I am so unbelievably sorry. Steve was one in a billion and I have never seen a more perfect and destined union. It is impossible to say anything right so I want you to know that you are in our prayers and thoughts every minute. If there is anything I can do or anything Lisa-It would be my pleasure! Please take care. Love always-Beck and Carina

Lisa, so sorry to hear of your loss. You may not remember me from when Steve and I worked on the magazine together when I first moved to Fort Collins in 1993. For some reason, I thought of him recently, and then was shocked and saddened to read the news in the paper the other day. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sons.

Great times with you Steve Mitchell. I will miss you on the soccer field, at poker games, trick or treating with the kids, and all the neighborhood parties. You have left us with some amazing stories and even better lessons on how to live life. God has you now. Because of that I am sure I will see you again. Save me a good spot at the table, all in with aces in the hole. Lisa, we are here for you and the boys. Jackson and Sammy, I will see you on the soccer field in the spring. Don't forget Romans 8:31-39.

We love you guys. WSJJ

Dear Lisa,

You do not know me for I am the mother of Rob Miketa who stood next to Steve during all their tamburitzan performances. They had a wonderful time together. I am so sorry that you have to go through the experience of widowhood. I lost my husband in 1999 and I know how difficult is the road upon which you are about to embark. I read many books, but one by Dr. Catherine Spangler, Surviving Grief and Learning to Life Again, was as helpful as anything can be. I am so sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to you. Steve was a wonderful friend to my son and for that I will always remember him. Sincerely,

Connie Miketa

To Lisa, Jackson, Samual, Aprel, and families:

My prayers and deepest condolences to you. I am a high school classmate of Mitch’s, and although we did not keep in touch afterwards, I recall his humor. As everyone knows, Mitch loved to put smiles on others’ faces. Mitch apparently kept in contact with some of the “Key Club-88” members, which shows what a great friend he was. Mitch can now tell his dad 8.5 years worth of stories while watching over the women in their lives and two young boys grow. Remember that one day, you will get to see Mitch (the husband, funny dad, and great son) again and can share your stories. My prayers and thoughts go with you.

Dear Lisa and family, I knew Steve many many years ago at Black Forest Baptist Camp. We were campers and camp counselors together, and went on the same mission trip to the Dominican Republic in 1985. He was a fun and lighthearted friend. Though I had been out of touch with Steve for many years, and never knew you all, I extend sincere sympathy on your sudden loss. God bless you.

Lisa,

I worked with Steve at Koch Industries. He was a valued employee; smart, productive and an outstanding sense of humor. He definitely knew his rock and roll.

Gloria and I grieve with you in your loss. We pray God's grace will sustain you and your family in this very difficult time.

Although I've never met you, Lisa, my heart simply aches for you and your boys. I was a friend of Steve's both in High School and college at CSU. As a matter of fact, Steve along with Brian and Fred Jacobs allowed me to live in their Ft. Collins house one summer when I needed a place to live. I will always remember Steve as the constant joker who always had a smile on his face and could make anyone laugh at the drop of a hat. Yes, he was taken way too soon and much too tragically. You must be an incredible woman, Lisa, for I know that he would have only married someone incredible like himself. My tears, prayers, and hopes of comfort are with you and your boys at this extrememly difficult time. And may Steve know all the joy that he contributed to this beautiful world.

Blessings and Peace to you,

Tina Stroman

Dear Lisa and Kids, I am greatly saddened by your sudden loss. Steve and I worked together on many construction projects. I consider Steve a friend and a righteous man. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are for all of you. May our Lord give the strength you need to see you through. I will always remember the easy demeanor and genuine smile of my friend.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. "Mitch" was such a great childhood friend of mine! Through high school and much of college, Mitch was one friend I could always count on for a smile, a joke and an encouraging word. We traveled "in rhythm" throughout the US, Canada and the former Yugoslavia together performing with the local tamburitzan orchestra and getting into "trouble" as much as possible! Recently, when on a business trip to NYC, Mitch made it a point to take some time to catch up with me here and it was a great reunion...one that fondly lives on in my memory. He was taken from us much too soon. His memory is a blessing upon my life and I am a better person for having known him through the growing pains of our youth. God's blessings for your comfort at this time and a bit of solace knowing that tears are shed for you and for Mitch across the miles. May flights of angels sing you to your rest, dear friend. Robbie
