BLANCHE WILLIAMS Obituary

Blanche Williams, 71, of Raymore, Mo., passed away April 19, 2010. She was born Aug. 20, 1938, in Lenexa, Kan., and married Glenn Williams on Sept. 4, 1956. To this union six children were born, Glennita Baughman (Allen), Robert Williams (Tammy) Valerie Ferrero, Mike Williams (Rhonda), Kevin Williams, Randy Williams (Linda); eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren, one of which preceded her in death; sister, Joann Cross; brothers, Morris Spruytte (Sharon) and Alfonse Spruytte who preceded her in death. Blanche was very dedicated to her children. She devoted her whole life to them. When the youngest child went to school she took a job outside of the house, again working with children. She went to work for the Ray-Pec School District as a lunch cashier. She loved that job. It fit her perfect; she had lots of children to look after. She worked there four years until she had a stroke at the age of 43. They said she would never walk again. She was determined and worked at it until she walked and even used her hand again. She wasn't able to go back to work that she loved so much. She found a new enjoyment in life. She became known as the garage sale queen. She would garage sale and antique shop several times a week getting together the items to have her own garage sale. She worked on cleaning and shining everything for weeks, making her pink signs and posted them all over town. When they saw the pink signs they knew it was Blanche. She had the best garage sale of the year people came from all over, she loved visiting and meeting all of the people. It became so big she opened a booth at an antique mall and took pride in running it until she could no longer walk from her diabetes. She was always very kind to everyone and saw the good in all. I know heaven is rejoicing because one truly special angel has just arrived. Services 10 a.m. Friday, April 23, Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, with burial in Raymore Cemetery. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at funeral home. Memorials may be made to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Pkwy., Ste. 201, KCMO 64114. Arrangements: Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, (816) 322-5278.
