Shawnee, Kansas - Bonnie Kay Schmitz, age 62, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on October 16, 2023. She was born on December 10, 1960, in Kansas City, MO. Bonnie's smile and laughter would lift people up wherever she went. She was who her family and friends would turn to for advice and comfort. She made sure that every person always felt heard and loved. Her love is genuine, honest, and everlasting.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Dannah Campbell (Jeremy Delgado), sisters Rose (Terry) DeCourcy and Paula Schmitz, brother Jimmy (Gwen) Schmitz, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Erma Schmitz, and her brother, Alan Schmitz.
Bonnie worked for the Shawnee Mission School District as a kitchen manager at an elementary school for over 10 years. One of her greatest joys was connecting with "her kiddos" in the lunch line. Bonnie also enjoyed baking, cheering on the Chiefs, and cuddling her dogs.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on November 11th, 2023, at the Tonganoxie Cemetery (Hubbel Hill Cemetery). Her family is planning a Celebration of Life to take place on her birthday.
