DAVID MAROON Obituary

David G. Maroon, 73, Overland Park, KS, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016. David was born on August 16, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa to Adele and Edward Maroon. David was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend whose generous nature, good heart, and unique sense of humor were known to all. He had a strong sense of values and an incredible work ethic. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a Civil Engineer. He was a sharp and naturally inquisitive person who was a self-motivator and inspired by knowledge and learning. He loved technology (and anything Apple related) and was often leaps and bounds ahead of the younger generation on the latest and greatest tools. He was a wonderful and caring man who made a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be lovingly and fondly remembered. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Maroon; mother, Adele Maroon; brother, Donald Maroon; father-in- law, Lester Heckt; and mother-in- law, Ann Heckt. David is survived by his wife, Mary Maroon of Overland Park; daughter, Teresa Maroon; son, Michael Maroon; son, Mark Maroon; sister, Nancy (John) Weiser; and granddaughter, McKenna Maroon. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20 from 12- 2PM at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Private service and burial will follow for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123. David, (aka Nubbie) and I were very close for a number of years as teens and into our twenties. I regret we lost touch over the years, but my memories of him, and his family- Eddie, Adele, Nancy, Becky, Muffin, his uncles, Dave, Chuck, and Joey, Auntie "M" and others- will live with me forever. David e-mailed me a few months ago, and told me his health was deteriorating, and I sensed that with this contact he was saying good-bye. I share the grief of his passing with his family- I loved him, too.

There are lots of memories of David and his growing up on the farm in Iowa. We walked beans together and saved our money to go to the State Fair with Uncle Joe and Uncle Eddie, Davids Dad. We came every summer from Texas to visit and what fun we had . David was always busy with something and wanting to drive the tractor when ever he had the chance. Family gatherings, lots of good food and fun. Memories give us strength. My prayers and healing thoughts to all his family. What a gathering he went to in Heaven. Love to all.
