Donald Davis Obituary

Donald R. (Don) Davis, 54, of Overland Park, KS, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 22, 2004. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at Countryside Christian Church at 6101 Nall Avenue. A reception will follow immediately at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kansas Wildscape Foundation, One Riverfront, Suite 123, Lawrence, KS 66044. Don was born March 30, 1949, in Kansas City, MO, son of Dr. Donald R. and Ardis Davis. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1967 and later from the University of Kansas, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He also attended the California Institute of the Arts. Don was a talented photographer whose first job was with Hallmark Cards. He worked in commercial real estate for 15 years and as a partner in the Property Company of America in Chicago, IL, before starting his own business, Consolidated Printing Supplies, Inc. He was an avid hunter and fisherman from Africa to New Zealand. He traveled the world and once climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. He was especially passionate about his family and friends whose lives he was involved with on a daily basis. He had a wonderful personality and a tremendous sense of humor. There were few who had loved life as much as Don did. We will miss him beyond words. He was preceded in death by his father, Don. He is survived by his wife, Becky Paulsen Davis, his mother, Ardis Davis, a son, Matt Davis, a daughter, Jessie Davis, a stepson, Tommy Elliot, two sisters, DeeDee Warner and her husband, Dick, Debby Brady and her husband, Larry, all of the Kansas City area, and many loving nephews and nieces. "I worked for CPS for 2 years and was fortunate enough to have Don's undivided attention for one whole day. On a business trip, just Don and I, I was able to see him in his purest form. We became friends that day and I will never forget the things I learned. Thank you Don for every opportunity you gave me. My prayers and thoughts are with Don's Family." -Joe

To the Family of Don Davis; I had the pleasure of booking business trips for Don and his associates on several occassions. I was shocked to hear of his passing, as he was such a young and vibrant man. Even though his life was cut short, he was fortunate to have experienced such a full, exciting and wonderful life. I know from our conversations that he was proud of his family and loved you all very much. I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Jami Herington @ Brotherhood Travel.
