JO EDLIN Obituary

Jo Ann (Haggard) Edlin, 80, a lifelong resident of Platte County, MO, passed away Tues., Oct. 25, 2011 at her home in Platte City surrounded by her family. She was born on Feb. 21, 1931 near Kearney, MO. to Clarence and Lucy (King) Haggard. Jo Ann was raised in Dearborn, MO, and graduated from Dearborn High School in 1949. She worked for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO, after graduation. On April 26, 1952 Jo Ann was united in marriage to the love of her life, Thomas Edlin. Jo Ann later worked as a dental assistant and then retired after 20 1/2 years of service with the Platte County Sheriff's Department. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and Scrabble, but her most enjoyable times were spent with her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Platte City. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ralph Haggard. She leaves behind her beloved husband Tom, of the home; daughters, Debbie Nusbaum and husband Paul, Platte City, MO and Cheri Edlin, Platte City, MO; son, Gary Edlin and wife Tammy, Liberty, MO; grandchildren, April Thornton, Tiffany Costello and husband Brad, Tara Andre, Jessica Edlin and Jaclyn Edlin; great-grandchildren, Madison Thornton, Garrett Thornton, Jackson Thornton and Aundrea Costello; many other relatives and friends. Jo Ann's warm, friendly smile and willingness to help others will be greatly missed. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Sat., Oct. 29th at the Camden Point Baptist Church. Burial: Camden Point Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the church. The family suggests donations to St. Luke's Hospice. Arrangements: Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton.
