JUDITH GLYNN Obituary

Judith Kay Marsee Glynn, 74, died peacefully November 24, 2014 at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Kevin, parents Raymond and Agnes Marsee, sisters Mary Franzen, Barbara Latenser, Sharon Marsee and brother-in-law Tony Rinella. Judy is survived by her son, David and wife Kerry and their children, Henry and Ellen; daughter, Sarah LaSala and husband Brandon and their children, Eric, Owen, Matthew and Lily; and son Philip and wife Elizabeth and their children, Maeve, Ezekiel and Blythe. Judy is also survived by her brother James Marsee and wife Ellen; brothers-in-law Ron Franzen and John Latenser; sisters in law Sue Rinella and Nancy Rottinghaus and husband Elmer; brothers- in-law Terence Glynn and wife Kathy and Leo and wife Kathy. Judy was born September 13, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Hospital and grew up at 4514 Francis Street. After graduating from St. Agnes grade school and high school she entered the college of Mount St. Scholastica and then the Ursuline Convent in Paola, Kansas. Her education degree came from Marillac College in St. Louis. Judy served God, several communities and hundreds of students as an Ursuline Sister for 10 years. Judy left her vocation in 1968 to embark on a new life and career as a layperson. While working as a governess and teacher, Judy met Kevin Glynn. They were married in 1970 at St. Agnes. Three children followed: David (1972), Sarah (1979) and Philip (1980). Judy blended the careers of full-time mother and early education and primary teacher throughout her life. In addition to being a mother and educator, Judy was a friend, confidant, counselor and mentor to more than one generation of family and friends. Visitation Catholic Church was her spiritual home. The lifelong vocation she undertook as a nun continued as a lay leader in Visitation's many ministries. Judy's stories, her advice and her songs will live on through the people she supported and inspired throughout her life. In death as in life, Judy was an example of sacrifice and grace. A visitation will be held on November 28th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Visitation Church, 5141 Main Street. We will celebrate her life with a Mass of Christian Burial at the church on November 29th at noon. Entombment will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Visitation Church, Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care and the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph. Dear David, Sarah, and Philip and Judy's
family and dear friends
With you I feel privileged to have known Judy from the time she joined the faculty of St Francis Xavier grade school, thru her marriage to Kevin, and the birth of their three children. She was one of the great women I have ever known and it was an honor to call her my friend. She brought a special touch to everything she did

David, Sarah and Phillip, you have our deepest sympathy. We just learned the news about Judy, as we were with Jay and his family over Thanksgiving. It was a joy to be "across the street" neighbors with your family. Judy and Kevin's warmth and good humor were always present. Judy was a very special person and her spirit lives on.

David, Sara and Philip: What a joy for me to work with your Dad and live in the same neighborhood with all of you. Your mother was such a joy and your parents were a blessing to all of us - and I am happy that they are together again. Randa Rawlins

When I met Judy at the wedding of Phil and Elizabeth, it was like a met up with a lifelong friend that I hadn't seen in a while. Our backgrounds and values were so similar. The day of the wedding, we went to Mass together, along with Miriam Roos and some other people, to pray for the happiness of the couple. She was a vibrant, loving mother. I will miss her, but I am confident she is in heaven.

David, Sara and Philip: You have been at your Mother's side these past few years returning all the love and affection she had given you over the years. There will be a terrible void in your life but with God's help you will get through it. I was in the convent with Judy and have many great memories of her over these past 50 years. May God be your strength. May she rest in peace. Mary Ziegler

JUDY WAS A LONG TIME GOOD FRIEND FROM THE CONVENT TO THIS DAY. I WOULD CALL HER BECAUSE OF LIVING SO FAR AWAY. IN OCTOBER I LOST HER WHILE ATTENDING MY FAMILY REUNION, BUT FOUND FOUND HER AT HOSPICE WHERE I TALKED TO HER BY PHONE. I WAS SO THANKFUL THAT I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO THANK HER FOR THE GREAT LIFE WE SHARED TOGETHER, AND TO TELL HER HOW MUCH I LOVED HER. SHE IS MY INSPIRATION AND WILL MISS HER SOOO MUCH. MY LOVE AND CONDOLENCE TO ALL THE FAMILY.

I cried for Judy when illness struck her so savagely and suddenly, and I am crying now, but this time with thanksgiving that her ordeal is over, and that my life intersected with that of this wonderful woman. I am so glad she was my friend.

I remember this cute, spunky, tiny Judy Marsee from our Mount St. Scholastica College class of 1962. I think she was with us one or two years so our friendship began as Freshman in 1958. Even in such a short time, she made her "mark" on our class and she will be missed and thought of lovingly.

Please accept my prayers and loving support at the loss of Judy. I knew her at St. Agnes and in the convent. Her laughter was hearty and heart-felt. I so appreciate her warmth and the genuine interest she showed in all those around her. A true friend and loving person. I'm only sorry that I don't live closer to be able to be there for the services.

What a joy to know that Kevin and Judy are together again. No more sickness, just laughing together as they always did. It was my blessing to teach with her at St. Francis Xavier, and more importantly to call her my friend. Love and Prayers to you.

Our deepest sympathy to all of your family for your loss.I remember Judy as a little girl in grade school at St. Agnes when I was in high school. I was a classmate of Jim but I knew all of the family may God bless and support you at this time.

I have lost a very dear friend and the community has lost an extraordinary woman.

I have such fun memories of traveling with Judy and Kevin on our Visitation choir visit to Italy. Judy was an easy going and fun companion. I loved being with her. One morning, she and Kevin went to the Vatican to "see the Pope." They were so excited. When they returned to the hotel, I asked Judy, "How was the Pope?" She replied, "Great. And he said to tell you 'Hi"."
I cannot imagine what a great mom she must have been. I'm so glad I got to know her.
