Kansas City, Missouri - "Judy," born in Salina, KS, was the oldest child of Robert and Nellie Brown and the sister of three brothers.

A few years after moving to Kansas City, Judy and her husband Dick King purchased a historic house that would be Judy's home for over forty years, and for the remainder of her life. The house was a center of family celebrations and social life. Judy was known for her annual Valentine's Day Tea and remarkable table centerpieces that occasionally featured live snow-white doves and colorful Koi fish. These "centerpieces" became beloved family pets along with generations of Doberman Pinschers.

Judy expanded her love for entertaining and decorating into a full-scale event planning and rental company. Her favorite projects included contracts with Designer Shoe Warehouse for store opening celebrations across the country and with the Governor's Mansion in Jefferson City to assist with designing events and an inauguration.

In recent years Judy pursued her various interests in gardening, genealogy and historic preservation. She combined these interests by co-authoring two different books: Union Cemetery: Lessons For The Future, From The Garden of Time and Mount Washington Cemetery: In Search of Lost Time.

Judy gave graciously of her time and resources to many non-profit organizations. Among her many contributions, achievements included co-founding The Lyric Opera Circle and becoming the first female president of the Kansas City, Missouri Branch of the International Food and Wine Society. In recent years she enjoyed being a board member and opening her garden to The Kansas City Rose Society.

Judy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother known for her homemade pies and cookies. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers Dennis and Steve and her grandchild Melissa. She is survived by her brother Bob; four children: John Kriegbaum, David King, Brian King, and Cathy Schultz; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Judy requested no funeral. There will be a family celebration of life.
