Independence, Missouri - Mary Alice Evans passed away following a brief final illness on March 6, 2023, near her home in Independence, MO. Mary Alice, or M.A. as she was known to many of her loved ones, was born on April 11, 1942 in Alton, IL, to Alice (Rowden) Crivello and Anthony Crivello. She graduated in 1960 from Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, and went on to attend then-Webster College (now University) in St. Louis, MO. In 1965, she moved to Kansas City, MO, where she met her beloved husband, Dr. Joseph C. Evans, Jr., whom she married in 1975.
An adored wife and mother, considerate and devoted friend, and consummately warm and meticulous homemaker, her high standards for thoughtfulness and gracious hospitality were belied by the ease with which she upheld them, and were equaled only by her endless wit. She valued her family-immediate and extended-above all else, and cherished her life's work making a beautiful, loving home for them. In her later years, she treasured expanding this into the role of grandmother, and to having more time to spend with friends and traveling with her husband.
In addition to Joseph, she is survived by her daughter Claire Kenny and her husband Glenn Kenny, her son Jonathan Evans and his wife Sarah Legg, their two children, Windsor and Bowen Evans, and many beloved cousins whom she loved as siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11 at 11am, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 717 State Street, Alton, IL.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 13 from 4-6pm at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
