MARY PRIBYL Obituary

Laughter and love followed her; hard work and caring drove her. But family consumed her. Mary Ann Pribyl left us before her 87th birthday on November 20, 2015 to join the love of her life, husband Cecil, who preceded her passing by three years. Born Mary Ann Vineyard in Marysville, Kansas in the middle of the Depression, she epitomized the hardships of growing up without luxuries as she attended high school sandwiched between two jobs a day. Before she was seventeen, Mary Ann's family and she moved from rental house to rental house eleven times. As the oldest of three sisters, she became the anchor who attended to the needs of her family. Immediately after graduating high school she married her sweetheart, Cecil Pribyl, and together they gravitated to Kansas City, Kansas where they raised two sons under the aroma of homemade povitica and warm cookies. Mary Ann became the number one fan of her sons' feats, the everlasting partner to her husband, an Irish-spirited jokester for her grandchildren, and a consummate card player and gambler who rarely lost to anyone. As always, her primary love was truly her family. After her deceased sister, Virginia Bush, she leaves behind her two sons Rick and Ron, daughters-in-law Linda, and Jeanne, sister Shirley Sabin, grandsons Skip, Scott, Sean, Jeff, Shea, David, Jamie, Patrick, and granddaughter Kerri Brocker, and seventeen great- grandchildren. Mary Ann befriended all and made people smile. Few who ever met her forgot her. The world will be so much more less without her. Visitation will be held Friday, November 27, 2015 at Prince of Peace at 9:00 AM, followed by Mass at 10:00 AM. Later, burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Homestead Assisted Living in Olathe, Kansas. Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. Dignity Memorial.

This very special woman came into my life 21 years ago. I was dating her nephew, Tim, and when we met it was like warmth was emanating from her. She accepted me without question and treated me as if I was her blood niece. Thanks to her, my husband has learned so many things about his mother, Virginia (her youngest sister), that he didn't know and she filled in so many blanks that he had as he mother had died when he was only 18. We were so blessed that she shared so many picture of her and the family and I will never forget the love that I felt when we are able to be with the family that Christmas and I had an opportunity to feel & share in the love that was the Pribyl family. She will always live in our hearts and will never be forgotten. Lord God, we pray for the ones left here on earth that feel the pain of their loss but know that she is with you in Glory. AMEN

So sorry for your loss Rick and Ron. Mary Ann is my cousin. I know her kids were her rock and talked of many stories of all of you all the time.

Mary Ann was such a special person in our lives, as was Cecil also. All of our get-togethers contained lots of laughter and good times. Cecil has been missed and now Mary Ann will be missed by us but she will be with her best friend, her husband. Please accept our deepest sympathy. Max and Carol Dix

My deepest sympathy on the loss of your Mom. I knew Mary Ann and Cecil through my Dad, John Conley, who worked for Edward's Vending Co. as a mechanic. My Dad thought the world of her and said she was a lovely lady and that Cecil was lucky to have her as his wife !! Know how difficult it is to lose a parent, but glad she and Cecil are now back together. May they rest in peace.
