Mumper, John A.

John A. Mumper, age 61, Kiel, WI went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the family residence with his family by his side. He fought with cancer and pulmonary fibrosis for 2 ½ years and he won! John was absolutely certain he was going to heaven because of Jesus' love and death on the cross for John.

John was born January 8, 1952 in Milwaukee, WI. He was the son of the late Harold and Shirley Mattmiller Mumper. He graduated from Juneau High School with the class of 1971. He served four years in the United States Air Force as a cook and sergeant being stationed in Oregon, North Carolina and Guam. After being honorably discharged John worked as a dairy herd manager on several farms throughout Wisconsin. He also was a cabinet maker for over twenty years in Green Bay. John raised goats and chickens for show on local, state and national levels winning many prizes with his Buff Brahmas. He was a county and district judge for over thirty years for chickens, goats, dairy cattle and small animals at county fairs and shows. John was a superintendent of the Wisconsin State Fair Poultry show for two years. He loved coaching his kids in football, track, wrestling and baseball and enjoyed making muskie fishing lures with his nephew. John enjoyed working with 4-H and other students to teach showmanship and good animal breeding. His last job was at Rob Asia Alpaca Ranch in Manitowoc where he thoroughly enjoyed working with the animals. John fell in love with Pam Backus in 2011, they married March 3, 2012 and loved each other well, despite cancer treatments. John is further survived by his four children: John (Lisa) Mumper Jr.,Milwaukee, WI; Joseph (Carrie) Mumper, Phoenix, AZ; Cheryl Mumper-Lindsley, Kenai, Alaska; Cynthia Mumper-Brabec, Bloomington, MN; six grandchildren: Vanessa, Natalie, Jackson, Cassandra, Violet and Oliver; two brothers: Dennis (Nancy) Mumper, DePere, WI; Timothy(Darlene) Mumper, Kewaunee, WI; one sister: Barbara (Barry) Severinsen, Sturgeon Bay, WI; special nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2013 at Faith Church, 2201 South 42nd Street, Manitowoc. Officiating will be Rev. Jeremy Vance. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Relatives and friends may call at Faith Church on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
