Mr. Loftin was a gentleman indeed. He was classy, generous, kind and a blessing to the lives of every student who ever crossed his path. I am glad I am on that list of students. It was a pleasure to have known him. God speed.

Mr. Loftin gave a young student the opportunity to experience the reality of his dreams. My dream was to play basketball I was a chubby seventh grader at the time with no financial means to watch the basketball games at Adkin he allowed me to work the concessions stand with him to earn my admittance. To some this may not mean much but while I was in his presence he deposited priceless nuggets that caused me to achieve far more than what the victories on the basketball court would do. He taught me how to win at life. A Great man.

Stephanye, Dargeelyn and family, please accept my deepest condolences with respect to the passing of your father. I literally just learn of his passing this morning February 19, 2016. Mr. Loftin was a brilliant high school teacher, mentor and friend. I loss contact with him in the past few years, but prior to that whenever I visited Kinston, I would stop by to see him and we would have some of the most interesting conversations I have ever had with anyone. He was a tremendous wealth of knowledge and always offered me sound solid guidance and inspiration. Due to a previous commitment, I regret that cannot attend his funeral services, but please understand that my thoughts and prayers are with the two of you and all of your family.
