Bevan Wood Brown Jr.

Knoxville - Bevan W. Brown Jr., 92 years old. Born on October 19th, 1928 in Starr, SC and passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2021 in Knoxville, TN. He is preceded in death by beloved wife Irene Brown and eldest son Bevan "Van" Brown III. He is survived by daughter and husband Myra Brown and Randal Lindsay, son Jeffrey Brown, stepson Greg Lawson, Van Brown's significant other Mary Malichis, granddaughter Mara Brown-Fisher and significant other Isaiah Shaffer, granddaughter Jenna Brown, and several nieces and nephews. He was a kind, generous, and loving man who devoted his life to his family and helping others. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from Clemson University plus a graduate degree from Clemson and Stanford Universities. During his 38 years working at TVA he held several positions including Deputy Manager of the Office of Natural Resources and retired in 1988 as Director of Air and Water Resources. During his time working for TVA he was awarded the 1986 Professional Engineer of the Year and the 1987 Tennessee Conservation League Water Conservationist of the Year. He also performed consulting engineering services in Tennessee and in four foreign countries including China and served as the US Representative on International Task Force to Mozambique, Africa. He was a member of the National Engineering Honor Society TAU BETA PI and the American Society of Civil Engineers, which he served on the National Board of Directors for a one 3-year term. He was a proud member of Christ United Methodist Church where he attended with his wife. There will be a Call of Convenience at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel in Knoxville, TN on Monday, April 5, 2021, from 11am till 5pm. There will be a funeral service conducted by Reverend Mark Kilbourne and Reverend Teresa Atkins McClure at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel in Knoxville, TN on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 12pm followed by a private graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. In lieu of flowers family prefers memorials be made to Helping Hands Ministry and Youth Fund at Christ United Methodist Church, 7535 Maynardville Hwy.
