Knoxville, TN

Elaine Audrey (Appel) Lasher, age 54, passed away on July 13, 2015 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Elaine was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Raised in Menomonee Falls, Elaine graduated Salutatorian from Grace Lutheran School. High School years were split between Hamilton (Sussex, WI) and Bayshore (Bradenton, FL) following family's move to Florida in 1978. Elaine received her Bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida. During her lifetime, she lived in Wisconsin, Florida and Tennessee.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Lasher; sisters-in-law Karen Glandon of Alcoa, TN and Judy (Larry) Leonard of Zion, IL; cousins, David Limbach, Carol Straak, Marilyn Gumprecht and Kelly Kauffman; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN, from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, July 17, 2015 with a memorial service to follow at 7:00pm. Elaine Lasher's remains will be put to rest at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, Florida by her parents, Roy and Lorice Appel, and grandparents, Charles and Amelia Appel. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to Leukemia Research Foundation, 191 Waukegan Road, Ste. 150, Northfield, IL 60093 or by phone 847.424.0600. It's been nine years since I lost my best friend and I miss her as much today as then. I can still hear her laugh when I recall the times we had in Wisconsin. Elaine was funny, smart and compassionate. I'm so lucky to have known her and she made me a better person. Rest well friend.

There are many times that thoughts of Elaine pop into my head, even now 5 years later, times when I wish we could sit and chat as we used to do. I prefer to think that she is doing a fly by and just checking in with me. I still miss her. She was such a good listener, such a good friend.

I first met Elaine and Ken at Franklin Covey. Elaine and I worked together and we became good friends.. Sometimes words are just not enough, to express how amazing a person can be. Elaine was one of the most caring and genuine people I have met in my entire life. No matter how she felt, she would put others before herself. When I was pregnant with Chase, she found out she had leukemia and wouldn't let me know she was sick because she didnt want me upset in my pregnancy. She was amazing and will definately be missed

Elaine became my sister Wendy's best friend when we moved to Menomonee Falls and attended Grace. They had many fun times. I always loved hearing about their escapades. Elaine was so much fun. She had a great laugh - which is how I remember her. I am thankful for the wonderful friendship she had with my sister.

Elaine was an open and giving person who never let distance and time get in the way of friendship. She was my best friend since 8th grade and even though we lost contact at times we always picked up where we left off without a hitch.

She had the best laugh, just thinking of it makes me smile. She was honest but kind and I can't help but be thankful that Elaine was in my life. I will miss her so much as will everyone else who had the blessing to know her. Rest well Elaine.
