Flora Marie Mitchell White

WHITE, FLORA MARIE MITCHELL - of Knoxville, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 5, 2011. Marie was born in Tifton, GA to the late Flora Overstreet Mitchell and Ralph Waldo Emerson Mitchell of Ferandina Beach, Fl. She was married to the late James Ray White of Sylvester, GA. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with a degree in home economics and education. Marie enjoyed a career as a dedicated school teacher for thirty years in Pikeville, TN and Perry, GA. She was a former member of Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins, GA, where she was a member of the choir and a Sunday school teacher. Marie was active in her senior adult Sunday school class and in the senior choir at Central Baptist Church of Bearden as well as in Bible Study Fellowship. She loved being with her family and friends and enjoyed her flower garden, studying God's Word and memorizing scripture. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Robert Emerson Mitchell. She is survived by her beloved children, son, James Ray White, Jr. and his wife, Mary Jane White of Nashville, TN; daughter, Susan White Rankin and her husband, David Michael Rankin of Knoxville, TN and daughter, Marilyn Marie Gallaher and her husband, Charles Michael Gallaher of Knoxville, TN. Also precious to her are her grandchildren, Sarah Marie White and Robert James White of Nashville, TN and Christopher David Rankin, Michael Drew Rankin and Melanie Susan Rankin of Knoxville, TN. Marie is also survived by her brothers, Fritz Kriesler Mitchell and wife, Mary Jane Mitchell of Lakeland, FL and Franz Mitchell and wife, Martha Lee Mitchell of Fernandina Beach, FL. Also very special to her were her several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 2:00 PM Tuesday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Dr. Larry Fields officiating. Mrs. White will be removed to Banks Funeral Home in Sylvester, GA for a 4:00 PM Thursday chapel service with an interment to follow at Tempy Cemetery.
