James Ford Obituary

James Ford

Knoxville - James R. Ford age 95 met his Lord February 4, 2021. James was a man of incredible character and integrity whose love had no bounds and whose perpetually open hands never grew tired of reaching out, giving and supporting. His life was one of continual sacrifice and service. Most notably, at a young age, he joined the Army to fight for our country in WWII during which he was struck in both ankles by a bullet and ultimately awarded a Purple Heart.

As a grocer he served his customers, as a salesman he served his clients and at Weaver Funeral Home he served the brokenhearted and the grieving, "the last one to let you down" he would jokingly say any chance he could. As a husband he faithfully served his wife, honoring her till death parted them. As a father, he served his children, leading by example and teaching lifelong lessons. As a grandfather, he served his grandchildren with warmth and laughter. He was always led by his faith with the mission of always being about his Heavenly Father's business. He has been a great example of Jesus in the many ways he selflessly served and loved others, never expecting anything in return. His impact is lasting and the lives he's affected are many. James R. Ford was a man we were all blessed to know and one we will never forget. James is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ruth Ford and parents, Edgar and Susie Ford; siblings, Edgar, Jr., Elmer, Irene Huskey and Eva Coffey. Survived by children, Linda (Phil) Peek, Rick, and Ed (Lesley) Ford; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother and sister, Ken (Sylvia) Ford and Helen Spangler. Friends may come by the funeral home between the hours of 2-7 pm Tuesday at Weaver Funeral Home and the service will follow at 7 pm. Rev. Phil Peek officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 pm Wednesday at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens for a 2 pm interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or to The Disabled Veterans. www.weaverfuneralservices.com.

My condolences to the family and all who love Jim. I think of him often, and today being D-Day brought him to mind again. I just learned of his passing.
I loved working with Jim, loved him like an uncle, enjoyed his sense of humor, his love of life, and his active love of people, which revealed itself in service in many forms. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There was such joy in his voice when he spoke of any of you. :) He is with his Lord and Savior now, and wont ever need his hearing aid again. ;)
May your memories be a comfort to you.
