Rodney Langman Obituary
Farragut, TN
Rodney Lee "Rocky" Langman, age 74, of Farragut, TN, formerly of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away Friday morning, September 14, 2018.
Rod was a parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to study history at the graduate level. Rod played competitive tennis for most of his life, winning dozens of titles in both singles and doubles. He had a lifelong appreciation for music and amassed an impressive and eclectic collection of albums. Rod was a skilled conversationalist with a quick wit and the ability to argue even the most controversial topics with respect. He retired from Kimberly-Clark as a Senior Systems Analyst after 40 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Ruth Ann Langman; parents, Donald Langman (a decorated World War II veteran who was killed in action and was the recipient of numerous medals, including The Distinguished Service Cross) and Edyth Holcomb Langman Van Denzen; brother, Michael Van Denzen.
He is survived by his son, Mitchell Langman of Boston, Massachusetts; daughter, Sara Sumner and granddaughter, Sophie Sumner of West Hartford, Connecticut; former wife, Sue Langman; brothers, Tom and Randy Van Denzen; sister Tammy Struck; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday followed by a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel.
A Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lake View Cemetery.
A Celebration of Rod's life will follow in Fox Run Club House (12804 Norden Drive, Farragut, TN 37934).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to KREST, a local non-profit focused on providing tennis lessons and support to underprivileged children in Knoxville, www.krestfoundation.org

Rod was my godfather and uncle. Although we lived some distance apart, he always served as a role model for me in how to live a good life with a commitment to education, personal/athletic/professional success, and family. He was a good man. Although I was not able to attend his memorial service and funeral, his memory and inspiration will live on with me, and I send my love and heart-felt sympathy to my cousins Sarah and Mitchell. May you all find peace, and may the sadness you feel now be replaced with the warm joy of fond memories

Dear Langman Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss and I pray that you'll feel God's comforting arms around you.
I worked with Rod and Ruth for many years in Knoxville. I loved their humility, generosity and comedy. I'll relish the funny stories they told and Rod's contagious laughter! I'm so happy to have known him. Rest in peace, Rod Langman.
