Stephen L. Smith

SMITH, STEPHEN L. - age 81, of Knoxville, died January 26, 2010 at Holston Health and Rehab Center. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended Tennessee Military Institute and The University of Tennessee and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was also a member of the Annual Tennessee State Bowling Handicap Tournament-1963 and was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame May 21, 1995; an avid golfer and loved The University of Tennessee Sports. He is preceded in death by parents, Nellie L. Smith and Ross Byron Smith; grandparents, A.I. and Martha Smith; grandson Robert Damon Beidler. Survived by loving wife, Betty G. Smith; children, William Ross Smith, Diana Smith Willett, Janet Smith Livesay; step-children, Teresa and Anthony Bales; grandchildren, Hunter Dane Livesay, Rebecca Michelle Willett, Christopher Jon-Ross Willett; brother-in-law, Col. William D. Guin (Marie); niece, Deborah Schmidt (William); nephews, J. K. Range (Vanessa), Matthew L. Range (Susan); great nieces, Laura and Martha Harris and family friend Bill Johnson. Several cousins and close family friends. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a brief devotion service to follow. Mr. Dan Baird, III officiating.
