William Eugene (Bill) Irwin

87 - William Eugene (Bill) Irwin, age 87, of Knoxville, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021. He was a lifelong member of Gillespie Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, choir member and Sunday School Teacher. He was a proud US Army Veteran and retired from Rohm & Haas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Kathryn Irwin; brother, Bob Irwin; parents Nank and Ruth Irwin, son-in-law, Gary McCubbins. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Stanifer and husband Scott; son, Dennis Irwin and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Lauren Bailey and husband John, Jordan Stanifer, Joel and Nathan Irwin, Erica Northern and husband Grayson; great grandchildren, Trinity Staat and (coming soon Colton Bailey); siblings Anna Ruth Foster, David Irwin, and Carolyn Easterly; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Smoky Mountain Hospice (Diane, Annie, Bebe, Denise and Chaplain Jim). The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Monday, March 22, 2021 at Rose Funeral & Cremation - Broadway. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Chris Garner officiating. Family and friends will gather at 1:45 pm Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 pm graveside service with Full Military Honors conducted by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Serving as Pallbearers John Bailey, Grayson Northern, Harold Gorman, David Foster, Chris Foster, and Jeff Parrott, Honorary Pallbearers Joel and Nathan Irwin.
