FORT WAYNE - John M. Sauter, 75, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, surrounded by his family singing his favorite songs per his last request.
He was born May 12, 1943, to the late Norbert and Marjorie (Kelleher) Sauter. A lifetime resident of Fort Wayne, he attended and graduated from St. Peter's grade school and Central Catholic High School. He worked at Bueter-Sauter Market, General Telephone Company, and retired from Verizon. John was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church and the K of C.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Minick) of Fort Wayne; his children, Tammie (Greg) McClain of Fort Wayne, Kathy (Rob) Driver of Fremont, and John Sauter Jr. of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Rothman Driver of Fort Wayne, Tawn (Robin) Bates of Fremont, Saige Driver of New York City, Kaleb Ehrman of Seattle, Washington, Kiley Ehrman of Fort Wayne, and Aly and Brooke Sauter/Kelble of Fort Wayne; brother, Thomas Sauter of Ammissville, Virginia; and sister, Anne Anderson of Indianapolis.
John was preceded in death by his brothers, Norbert and Robert Sauter; and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Kelble.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold St., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also will be Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne, from 1-8 p.m. with a rosary service at 6:30 pm. Entombment will be at Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or NAMI.
