AUBURN - Julie A. Wagoner, 60, passed away peacefully Friday, May 25, 2018, at her home in Auburn.
She was born Dec. 24, 1957, in Sullivan, Indiana, to James Lee and Donna Sue (Mikeworth) Newlin. Her parents reside in Rochester.
Julie was a 1976 graduate of Rochester High School. She later attended St. Francis University where she graduated with a degree to become an LPN and subsequently from IVY Tech Community College in Indianapolis where she became an International Board-certified lactation consultant.
She married Larry Wagoner on April 23, 1977, at the First Baptist Church in Rochester, and he survives in Auburn.
Julie served as a receptionist and LPN for nearly 10 years for Dr. Trina Chapman-Smith at DeKalb Memorial Hospital. She then transferred to the OB and Family Birthplace at DeKalb Memorial Hospital/DeKalb Health for nearly 20 years where she served as an OB nurse. She also spent much of her time teaching others in need of prenatal and/or breastfeeding education.
Julie loved and enjoyed working and caring for others as a nurse, but most of all cherished being a mom and nana to her three children and two grandchildren. Those who knew her will always remember her selflessness and the sound of her laughter coming from the kitchen.
She was a dedicated advocate and volunteer for the March of Dimes.
Also surviving are three children and their spouses, Eric James and Ingrid Wagoner of Raleigh, N.C., Jennifer Sue and Ryan Faber of Asheville, N.C., and Evan Jonathan Wagoner of Spartanburg, S.C.; two grandchildren, Brinley Faber and Hudson Faber; sister, Lori Frounfelter and her husband, DJ, of Rochester; sister-in-law, Lynda Cumberland and her husband, Dave, of Princeton; brother-in-law, Layne Wagoner and his wife, Dee, of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Newlin.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor James Pettit will officiate.
