Lois Bickle Obituary

Lois Ann Bickle passed away in Edmond, Oklahoma on January 27, 2025, peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family. Service will be 2pm Friday, January 31, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ponca City, OK. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Lois was preceded in death by: father, Mackey Ditmore; mother, Bernadine Ditmore Terry; father-in-law, Bob Bickle; mother-in law, Doris Bickle; and son, Bryan Bickle.
Lois is survived by: her husband, Barry Bickle, of Stillwater Oklahoma; son, Michael, wife Erin, and their four children - Bennett, Bodie, Mackie and Blaise - all of Edmond; daughter-in-law, Debbie and her two sons - Braden and Nate - of Bixby, Oklahoma. She is also survived by: sister-in-law, Janie Furnas, and husband, Charley; brother in law, Greg Bickle, and wife, Rene: sister, Barbara Spore and husband, Steve; sister, Nancy Holloway; brother, John David Ditmore and wife, Amy
Lois was born on August 25th, 1947, in Enid, Oklahoma to parents Mackey and Bernadine Ditmore. She graduated from Newkirk High School in 1965 and from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Elementary Education in 1970.
Lois is remembered as Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She loved family first; she also loved being a teacher. She began her teaching career teaching sixth grade at Newkirk Elementary School. Later, she went on to teach for several years at St. Mary's Catholic School and Trout Elementary School in Ponca City, Oklahoma. After having retired from teaching in 2000, she became a State Mentor for the Great Expectations program, which focuses on the human quality of teaching and learning.
Lois was quite the hostess. She loved to entertain others with a fabulous meal. Lois was phenomenal at making her braid bread. She was the Kay County gold medal winner at the bread baking contest. She also sold her braid bread, also known as Grandma Bread, at Miller Market in Ponca City for years.
Lois was always willing to help anyone in need. From this, she developed many long and lasting friendships.
She was a lover of "good" red wine, the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Basketball was her favorite sport and she befriended many Cowboy basketball players and coaches over the years.
