Lester Reed Obituary

LESTER REED Services will be on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral Lower Church in St. Cloud for Lester J. Reed age 93 of St. Cloud who died Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell, Reverend Alfred Stangl will officiate. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud, Minnesota. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Lester Reen was born on August 15, 1909 in Melrose, Minnesota to James H. and Hele na (Bolfing) Reed. He married Esther M. Baron on November 25, 1931 at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. Lester was employed in Flint, Michigan at AC Spark Plug from 1937 until he moved to Canoga Park, California in 1947 where he was employed by Rocketdyne, a division of Rockwell International and worked in public relations. He retired in 1972. He resided in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1990 until he moved to St. Cloud in 1998. Lester was a past member of the Elk's Lodge and an Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Father Pierz Assembly and the Knights of Columbus Bishop Zardetti Council #5548. Survivors include nieces and nephew, Bunny (Reed) Orth and her husband Larry of St. Cloud, Paulette "Putt" (Reed) Haehn and her husband Dave of Sauk Rapids, James Reed and his wife Wanda of Longville, Kathy (Reed) Wollak and her husband Hoseph of Rice; one brother-in-law, Alphouse Schreifels of St. Cloud. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther on March 29, 1997, one brother, Louis J. Reed and one sister, Magdalen Schreifels. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral home, St. Cloud, Minnesota.
