Mrs. Estelle Mattie Godwin Walker

Mrs. Estelle Mattie Godwin Walker, age 94, of Olustee, Florida, passed away on Friday, July 29, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Walker was born in Sanderson, Florida, and lived most of her life in Olustee, Florida. She and her late husband, John Carroll Walker, owned and operated Walker's Grocery Store, Olustee, Florida, for over 30 years until her retirement. Mrs. Walker graduated from Macclenny-Glen High School in 1946, was a member of the Olustee Baptist Church, the Macclenny Women's Club, Shands at Lake Shore Hospital, Lake City, FL auxiliary member, and a member of the Olustee Station 80 Fire Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John Carroll Walker, her parents, Rev. Wiley A. and Callie Branning Godwin and seven siblings, William "Bill" Godwin, Colon Godwin, Nolan Godwin, Wilbur Godwin, Rose Hodges, Emmie Hodges and Redith Crews.
She is survived by one brother, Vasco "Shack" (Bertie Mae) Godwin of Lake Butler, Florida; two daughters, Glenda Owen of Olustee, Florida, and Wanda (Kenneth) Miller of Savannah, Georgia; one son John "Johnny" (VeLinda) Walker, Jr. of Lake City, Florida; nine grandchildren, Ken (Sara) Owen, Kevin Owen, Klate Owen, Jessica (Brian) Smith, Jaime (Matt) Carter, Jenna (Brett) McDaniel and Mac Miller, Cari (D.J.) Meloy and Kirsten Walker; nine great-great-grandchildren, Trey Owen, Sara Allyson (Michael) Maughon, Amy Owen, Benjamin Smith, Abigail Smith, Cameron Carter, Kaelin McDaniel, Logan McDaniel and Norah Meloy.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Walker will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, Aug. 12, at the First Baptist Church of Sanderson with Rev. James Croft officiating. Gathering and visitation with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, Aug. 11, in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home-Macclenny. Internment following the service will be held at Olustee Cemetery.
