Herman Willis Griffin

Herman Willis Griffin, 89 years old, passed away, at home, peacefully on February 15th after an extended illness. His loving wife, Katherine, Debbie, Cindy, and Brenda were by his side. He was the best Husband, Father, Papa, Pastor, Mentor, and Friend. He touched so many lives with his kind heart and earnest desire to brighten everyone's day. He used humor to help heal all sadness.
Herman married Katherine Grantham in July of 1952 and they have had 70 years of a blessed marriage. Herman and Katherine moved to Lake City from Ocilla GA in 1962. He worked for Jimmy Tyson (Uncle on Katherine's side) at the City of Lake City and then managed the first Hinky Dinky store. Herman went into business with Phil Corbin to sell and repair TVs- Corbin Griffin TV. He ultimately retired from the US Postal Service with 30-plus years. Salem Primitive Baptist Church was blessed to have Herman as Pastor from 1987 to 2020 (33 years).
Herman was proceeded in death by his parents Ashley and Emma Gray Griffin. He was the last of 11 children to pass away. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Katherine Griffin, and children Wade (Kim) Griffin and Debbie Griffin (Cindy). Four grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Perry, Jennifer (Philip) Whitten, Rebekah (Mitch) Folds and Benjamin (Lauren) Griffin. Ten great-grandchildren, Leland, Cohen, Amelia, Haleigh, Collins, Palmer, Emma, Wyatt, and Ophelia.
The visitation will be on Saturday, February 18th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and the funeral on Sunday the 19th at 2:00 PM with internment for follow. All services will be held at Gateway Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. 3596 South US HWY 441 Lake City, FL 32025
