Doris Hester Obituary

HESTER , Doris Isabelle (Smith)
Doris Isabelle (Smith) Hester was born in Madison County, Arkansas on August 25, 1930 and left this earth on May 1, 2007 in Woodland Hills, California. She is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: Pamela and her husband Gerry Werda, Peggy and her husband Gwilym McGrew and their children Colleen and James, Marla Hester, and Michael Dee Hester and his wife Mari. She is also survived by five of her seven brothers Jim, Art, Joe, Cecil and Boyd and four of her five sisters, Nola, Ruth, Mary, and Cormal . She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost fifty years, Marlan Dee Hester, whom she sorely missed; her brothers Ray Jr. and Lee; her sister, Lovella; and her parents Ray and Ova Mae Smith.
She lived an active and full life. She raised four children while working full time in the nursing profession for over thirty years. She also volunteered, babysat both grandchildren and granddogs, cooked, gardened, and happily stayed abreast of politics and the news. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her and will be remembered as someone who was always there to lend a helping hand, give advice and help keep family, friends, co-workers and school mates held together. She was a strong woman of pioneer stock who worked hard and gave her all; like her beloved husband who left before her, she will be sorely missed.
A memorial service of her life will be held Saturday, May 5th at 2 p.m. in the Old Pioneer Church at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery in Chatsworth, California. Donations may be made in her memory to the School of the Ozarks, P.O. Box 17, Point Lookout , Missouri, 65726.

Mom, you are missed. I wanted to call you this morning and tell you the lilies have bloomed outside my front door. But I guess you are looking down, and can see them for yourself. I know you are happy to be with Dad again, please give Sunny a kiss.
