Met Ernie when my sister Helen was office manager at his father Harry´s business , Union Produce . I would occasionally work with her during the busy season. Ernie often came to see his Dad at the office and his personality and sense of humor made him fun to be around. Throughout our lifetimes we crossed paths occasionally and decades later he came to work for my late beloved husband , Bob Witt, at American Produce Co for a few years.
A fond memory is that when we first met as teenagers he heard my beloved sister call me by my childhood nickname and that did it, he never called me by name again.
Always made me smile to hear him say it.
I´m so sorry that I did not hear of Ernie´s passing, I surely would have attended his service in memory of our almost 65 years of friendship.

My father Carl Markel was the head producer at Ralph´s for many years and worked with Ernie. I knew Ernie since I was little and have many fond memories. He arranged for a car service to take my grandmother to her dialysis every day. He bought me the cutest outfit for my 16th birthday! Jean skirt, white satin top and a red blazer, all from Guess. I looked so rad! I am so sorry I missed this. I condolences to his family and lots of love. I hope he´s with my dad having lots of laughs in heaven.

I'm so sorry. I was out of the country and just today found out about Ernie's passing. I even called him yesterday because I was planning to fulfill my promise to go visit him this coming week.
He was a good friend and business associate for several years.
I feel so bad I was unable to say good bye personally.
