Irving Reiss Obituary

Reiss, Irving Born January 12, 1921. Died December 10, 2004. He began his career with a job at the New York Public Library. Throughout his life he valued the two symbols of the library, patience and fortitude. Thereafter in 1937 he began his life career in the Commercial Finance Industry.
He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was decorated with both the silver and bronze stars. After the war is when he met the love of his life Sonya and on their very first date he said he would marry her, which he did in 1947. They relocated to California where after a tour of duty in the Korean War he resumed his career in the Finance Industry which he continued for 50 years. He founded State Financial Corporation in 1967 where he continued to work until his death. He was a founder and past President of the Commercial Finance Conference of California (CCFC). In his spare time he loved traveling, politics, books, and people. He was a man full of pride, compassion, and love for everyone he knew. He is survived by his loving sons, Art and Gary Reiss; and sister, Bea Hanzel. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Sonya; and sister, Lucille. Services are 12 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries - Hollywood Hills (800)600-0076.
