My condolences to Greg, children and Grandchildren. She was so gracious, and non-assuming to all in her presence. Life is too short, and I regret not spending time riding horseback in the mountains around Santa Ynez, and fly-fishing with her outside of the plans we made as kids. Hopefully that time will come in Heaven. In the last time we met (Barbara Scoles Agler's funeral Mass) she expressed her PRIMARY LOVE OF FAMILY. Our Family is our Legacy. All of my love and condolences to you all.

Rita was the most beautiful soul I have ever known. Knowing her, and cherishing our friendship, is one of the honors of my lifetime. The hole in my heart is unmeasurable. She shared so very much with me; her Irish spirit, her sense of humor, her intelligence, her innate grace and so much love.

Rita’s love of Greg, their three beloved children and their families, was unquestionably the most fundamental aspect of her life. Over the years she shared so many stories about Annemarie, Shannon and Gregory. Rita was also the proudest grandmother. Greg and Rita were two parts of a whole in many ways. 53 years!

Rita and I shared work, wine, gossip, gardening, music, books, the Oregon State Fair and so much more. We could easily sit quietly reading our books and be content. Rita gave me the gift of quilting which, in retirement, has provided me with much joy as well as a wonderful new community of women friends.

To my shame I became paralyzed with her diagnosis and could not face the inevitable, but I know Rita’s spirit is now with God. Rita, I love you and miss you. Thank you for being a part of my life.

I met Rita while teaching Shannon at NDA. What a lovely presence she was! She was kind and thoughtful and very supportive of our school. I felt a real connection with her family as Greg had taught at my high school! Such fun to reconnect! Thank you for re-igniting these warm memories! Heaven is blessed by her warm presence.

I worked with Rita at Notre Dame Academy. She was kind and encouraging to students and teachers alike. Rita and Greg generously shared their home and pool with NDA faculty when it came time for the end of the year celebration. What I remember most about Rita though is her beautiful smile. Thank you to her family for sharing your wife, mom and grandmother. Heaven has another angel.
