Robert Bomeisler Obituary

Bomeisler, Robert Evans (``Bo") (78) passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov 12, 2001, after a valiant battle with multiple myeloma. He was a man of many talents and gifts, which he shared freely with family and friends.
He was born in Hollywood on December 18, 1922, and grew up in Santa Monica, the son of Kathryn and Louis Edwin Bomeilser, Jr. He attended Santa Monica High School, and later became active in the Samohi Alumni Group. After serving in the Navy aboard the USS Eaton in the South Pacific in WWII, he attended UCLA and Cal Berkely, and received a degree in engineering. He spent his career in various technology fields-television, the space program, computers- and retired in 1987 from a position at Xerox. He had many avocations: photography, travel, sailing, tennis, beach volleyball, dancing, films, and computers, to name just a few. He is survived by his former wife Betty Edwards; daughter Anne Bomeisler Farrell (John); son Brian Evans Bomeisler (Roya); granddaughter Sophie Rose Bomeisler; brothers Donald Bomeisler (Natasha); nieces, Cynthia and Kathryn Bomeisler; and a legion of friends. His joie de vivre, generosity, and youthful outlook inspired everyone around him, and his loss is immeasurable. Please accept my condolences and blessings to all the greiving family members. (My grandmother was Aunt Natalies sister, Edna Steinhauser) Jan Russell Cebull and I of course are cousins and she has passed on the sad news of the death of Bo. I wanted to write and send my love to the family.

Bo was my second cousin. We got to know eachother only 10 years ago, when he and Don came to my mother's funeral. After that, Bo and I kept in touch. I liked him a lot. We shared news of our children (Brian and Carrie), and our work on the family genealogy. I was shocked when he wrote me about having myeloma; I had just one year ago lost my dad to that disease. But, I tried to cheer Bo on and encourage him to fight, just as Dad had. I shall miss his presence on the planet. I shall miss having such a fun, interesting, and caring cousin to share family "stuff" with. I hope to keep in touch with Annie and Brian. Family is so important to me these days . . . Love, Jan
