Willard Wellman Young

Col. Willard Wellman Young Col. Williard Wellman Young was born in 1920 in Huntsville, AL and lived there until his graduation from Huntsville High School, where he was Valedictorian and lettered in football and basketball. He entered the University of Georgia in 1930, but his law education there was interrupted by World War II, during which he served four years as an infantry officer. After the war he returned to the University of Georgia and received a law degree (Doctorate). He then entered the Regular Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and served therein until his retirement in 1968 in the grade of Colonel after 29 years of service. He later served (10 Years) as a legal counsel at the University of Georgia; was in the real estate business in Florida; and lastly was the resident manager of a resort hotel in the North Carolina mountains, prior to settling permanently in Vero Beach, FL. He is survived by his wife, Erika Young; three children; a stepdaughter; a nephew and two nieces. A memorial service with military honors will take place 11 AM, Monday, August 28, 2006 in Huntsville. He will be buried in his ancestral family plot in Huntsville. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach, FL.
