Judith O'Neil

JUDITH CATHERINE "COOKIE" O'NEILL, 65, longtime Deming resident and local educator passed away Thursday September 20, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 4 to 7 at Baca's Funeral Chapel where a prayer vigil will begin at 7 o'clock that evening led by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga. Mass of the resurrection will be Tuesday morning at 10 Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Ronald J. Burke and Deacon Brick Hodge officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment will take place at a later date at Mt. View Cemetery.
Cookie was born June 28, 1942 in Dearborn, Michigan to Terl and Julia (Skibo) Pentland. She has been a resident of Deming since 1970 having previously lived in Silver City and also San Luis Obispo, California. Cookie graduated from New Mexico State University in 1998 and taught at Deming Middle School and most recently at Red Mountain Middle School. She was a member of the NMSU Alumni, the Deming Education Association, and the New Mexico Council International Reading Association.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Timothy M. O'Neill of Deming; stepfather Les Rider of Deming; her daughter, Theresa O'Neill of Deming; sons, Kelly O'Neill and his wife Carmen of Huron, South Dakota, Tim O'Neill and his wife Lauren of Gardnerville, Nevada; her sister Carole Ruebush and husband Stanley of Deming; 5 grandchildren, Nick O'Neill and wife Ashley, and Hannah, Kelly, Jaime, and Jesse O'Neill; nephews Finley, Emmett, Jimmy, Pat, Kevin, Steve, Tim, Mike, Tommy, Nick, Alex, Mick and Chris; nieces, Valentine, Judi, Christi, Diane, Jennifer, Katie, Dana and Eileen. Cookie was preceded in death by her father, Terl Pentland, mother Julia Rider, sisters in law, Nancy Ann Nunn and Susie Kennedy, and her fathers and mothers in law, Finley and Nancy Dunagan and Paul and Peg O'Neill.
Pallbearers will be Nick O'Neill, Pat Stewart, Robert Mullan, Tim O'Neill, Kelly O'Neill, and Clyde Stewart.
