Lithia Springs, GA- Mr. Gabe E. "Gabby" Averett, 67, of 1708 Olde Oak Drive, Lithia Springs, GA formerly of Holy Trinity, AL passed Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Atlanta, GA.
Funeral service will be held 12:00 noon EST, Monday, June 11, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church, Holy Trinity, AL with Rev. H.C. McGruder, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 - 8 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Averett was born June 23, 1944 in Holy Trinity, AL to the late Senora Averett and the late Warren Averett. He was a member of Greater Zion Hill Baptist Church where he served in the choir. He had served in the US Army and was employed with Sanderson Industries, Atlanta, GA. He was also a graduate of Mt. Olive High School.
Survivors include his wife, Scenesta Reece Averett of Lithia Springs, GA; one son, Gabriel (Saint) Averett of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers, Rev. Jimmy Averett of Ft. Mitchell, AL and Charlie Averett of Columbus, GA; four sisters, Myrtis Allison of Atlanta, GA; Patricia Jackson of Detroit, MI; Frances Langhorn of Montgomery, AL and Viola (John) Hoskins of Holy Trinity, AL; a host of other relatives and friends.
