Jennifer Sisk Obituary

Jennifer
Sisk
September 23, 1974-
August 3, 2017
LaGrange, Georgia- Mrs. Jennifer "Jenny" Sisk, 42, of LaGrange, GA passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 in Columbus, GA.
Jennifer was born September 23, 1974 in Paris, TX, daughter of Jerry F. Duncan and Carol Williams Duncan. She was employed with Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center as a Registered Nurse.
Jenny worked for over 20 years in various fields of nursing and anesthesia. She was the ultimate caregiver, not only for her patients, but for her friends and family. She had many hobbies, but loved baking and hand decorating cookies for special occasions. When Jenny identified a problem, there was no stopping her until the issue was resolved. This hard working attitude helped her overcome any obstacle that may have stood in her way.
Survivors in addition to her parents, Jerry and Carol Duncan, are her husband, Chad Sisk; sons, Zachary Sisk and Matthew Sisk; brother, Jerry (Secret) Duncan, Jr.; sister, Jackie (Kelly) Carr; grandmothers, Hazel Duncan and Mary Williams; mother-in-law, Kathy Sisk (Bill Lassiter); father-in-law, Jack Sisk; numerous nieces and nephews; close friend, Kay Bain; and many close co-workers.
The Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 5:00 P.M. Monday, August 7, 2017 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Rev. Jeff McCartney officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be on Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Harmony House, P.O. Box 2925, LaGrange, GA 30241 in memory of Mrs. Jennifer Sisk.

I knew Jenny from WGMC labor and delivery. She was a very thoughtful and sweet person to everyone. She always laughed instead of letting things get her down. She was a great nurse anesthetist and, when she was on my shift, I didn't worry as much about what walked through the door. I am so sad. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

I worked with Jenny in Lagrange for about 8 years and she was one of my best friends. The day we met we both knew that a wonderful friendship was on the horizon! You see, we had lost touch over the last few years, but I was delighted that she reached out to me a few weeks ago, and I was looking so forward to seeing her again. So instead of sharing these memories with her, I want to share them with her family and friends, as a comfort to me, but also to comfort us all in this time of sadness.

-Breathsavers mints (wintergreen, not spearmint), which she always, always had on her, and I still carry them to this day!
-Annual PCB Girls trip with Kay: You can bet that the third week in September we would be there, and we would be eating at Hunts Oyster Bar, playing rummy on the balcony, and Jenny would be trying to figure out how to anchor the floats so we could read in the ocean.
-Cover girl 24 hour lipstick, nail polish stickers, and any new face creamthe girl discovered it, had it, and got me hooked on it! I still order most of these things online to this day!
-The Great Bicycle Pedal fiasco of 2009!
-Her love of her sweet babies Copper and Pip!
-Keurig, Kindle, XM comedy radio, and Wii-Fit .she was the first person I knew to own any of these things and the friend who bought them all for me! Which I still have and use!
-She was an avid collector of books, recipes, and knowledge. I will always treasure the handwritten recipes I still have and use of hers! Tomato-Mot sandwiches will always remind me of her! She could read a book faster than anyone I knew, and before Kindle, I got to be the recipient of her completed books. The girl was a ferocious in her need for knowledge. You wanted her on your Trivia Team, as she had the most random facts stuck in her head!
-That time I tried to off her with a blueberry and Japanese rice after her surgery.bless her heart, she was sick for days! Ooops! I felt terrible! But we laughed and laughed (after)!
-She always had a zebra pen.
-OR hats: she always wore an OR hat that contained a modern engineering marvel of bobby pin construction to keep her hair under it, a smiley face OR hat for Friday, and would rock that hat in Walmart too!
-Even if one of us got off work before the other, we would sit in the OR together and wait for one another on most days. It was just too much fun to leave good company! Then we would move to her back patio and laugh some more!
-Every Tuesday she went to Walmart and bought DVDs she had the most amazing collection!
-She was the founding member of the WGMC Breakfast Club! I never got up early enough to be a member, but she still loved me!
-She loved Dave Matthews Band, and taught me that it was indeed a fire dancer and not a dancing fairy.
-She took me zip-lining for my birthday one year, but forgot to bring shoes, so she wore my mom's shoes that were 2 sizes too big and never said a word about it. My birthday is in Augustyou can never imagine the levels of heat stroke we endured that day!
-Most importantly, she kept me sane when I was insane, and she held me together when I was falling apart. She was both serious and hilarious, and knew exactly when to use either. She held my secrets, she held my hopes, she held my dreams and she made me focus on what was important. She was the strongest person I will ever know. I will forever hold these and so many other memories in my heart. Go rest high my dear friend, and know that you are missed and loved beyond words Jenny! The world is a far less fun place without you in it.

To the Duncan and Sisk families, I'll always remember seeing Jenny on the riding lawn mower some Saturday mornings in Thundering Springs. I don't remember her ever being unkind to me, even though I know I deserved it sometimes. I'll always remember her sitting at Mom and Dad's kitchen table doing Elvis or Sylvester Stallone impersonations, after riding there on her bicycle from Tanglewoods. She was my example and inspiration for enjoying bicycle riding, the reason I became interested in the snakes in Mr. Puckett's class in high school, and the reason for the feeling of familiarity while working at the Dublin Animal Hospital, because it was like my own big sister had somehow paved the way for me and showed me what I would enjoy. I do not know the depth of grief and sorrow from loss you all feel who knew her best and loved her most. But I know the Almighty One who before the beginning had numbered our days and knows and cares for us intimately. My highest prayer is that through this extreme grief, God would be glorified and He will call many to faith in Christ. You all are in my prayers.
