Samuel Morten Obituary

Samuel Morten September 29, 1949 - June 12, 2004 COLUMBUS, GA - Samuel Morten, 54, of 2001 Torch Hill Road Apt. 37-C, Columbus, died Saturday, June 12 at Columbus. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Ala., according to Taylor Funeral Home, Phenix City. Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with a family hour from 6 to 7 p.m. Mr. Morten was born Sept. 29, 1949 in Columbus, the son of the late Evalena Morten and John Morten of Phenix City. He was a chef and a member of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Phenix City. Survivors other than her father include two sons, Namon (Nikkie) Lewis of Phenix City and Cornell Morten of Phenix City; two daughters, Katrina Lewis and Wanda Lewis of Phenix City; six brothers, Johnnie (Annie Mae) Morten, Eric Morten, Marvin Morten and Brandon Morten, all of Phenix City, Tommie Morten of Smyrna, Ga., and Ernest Morten of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Dorothy Brunn of Queens, N.Y., Sarah (Horace) Obleton of Columbus, Pamela Morten-Braswell (Derrick) and Toya Morten, both of Phenix City; and eight grandchildren.
