I have many wonderful memories of my Uncle from my child hood. He was loved and will be missed.

I thought a lot of Stoney. He was a great friend and neighbor who was always out and about and willing to help anybody in need. Stoney had a big heart - you didn't even have to ask for help if he saw you outside doing something he he would come over and sometimes just pitch in or just simply walk over to chat. He most definitely will be missed a great deal.

Great memories of vacation in Nags Head around 1980. Wish I had pics of that. Unforgettable like my uncle Merritt .

From the moment we met Stoney, we knew we´d met one of the true blue "good guys." Always ready to help in any way possible, Stoney was a man of few words with a heart as deep and wide as the Atlantic Ocean. He was a gentle giant whose stature belied his disarming warmth. To have known Stoney was to love Stoney. When we heard of his unexpected passing, we felt as though a hole had opened up beneath us-it seemed unfathomable that such a sweet man who was as active and fun-loving and charitable-with both his time and his energy-could suddenly be taken... his is a loss that will be felt by many people for many years to come. But our memories of Stoney are those rooted in friendship and genuine admiration. He was truly one of the good guys, and there are far too few of them left on this planet. May his journey to the inevitable adventure be utter bliss; his passing has been hard to accept. Our hearts are with Carol and their family, and all those, like us, who love them. With heartfelt sympathy, Donna and Ryan Hatch
