In memory of

ALBERT C. STECHER Jr.

Add memories that will last forever

Not sure what to say?

I just read of "Mayor Stecher's" passing today. To the family I am very sorry. He was such a wonderful man. He performed my wedding ceremony at Woolwich Town Hall on Dec 15,1984. I always remember his smile and he was so happy to perform that ceremony. I saw him several years later before we moved to Georgia and he joked "I must have done a good job, you're still married" Well, he did do a good job as Richard and I have been married for 30 years now. I did not know a lot of the family except for Shirley. Always loved the Country Store and picking out Christmas Trees.I know he will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. Rest in peace Mayor Stecher.

I just found out about Al's passing. I had worked in the store many years ago. I remember Al coming into the store just so he could be around the customers. I know he will be missed. Barb, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

He didn't know my name but whenever i went into the store he recognized me and was always so friendly. I had the opportunity to take care of him and he recognized me that day also! He was as kind as they come, a special gift.

Dear Stecher Family, I was so sad to hear of Al's passing. Al always made everyone feel welcomed...especially the children. Sometimes when I was a seasonal employee my son, Colin (then about 9 yrs old & now 26 yrs old), would be dropped off to me or have to come w/me to work. He had so much fun "working" out back w/the guys on Christmas trees, or his favorite part was when Al would let him help people cart their plants to their cars & load them so he could get a tip (hopefully) that it changed to he would come to work w/me every chance that he could! He still tells people about "working" at Stechers! Then my daughter, Nicole (now 15), came along. Of course, Al would always say his famous saying "How'd ya get to be so beautiful?" to her when we would come to the store to visit. She was quite shy but he knew her favorite thing was the fish pond so they would visit the fish & that's the only time she would talk to him! Keep remembering all of the great memories to help you through this sad time & remember Al would want you to remember him but to keep enjoying life as he did every day! In Our Hearts Always! Sally, Kevin, Colin & Nicole

I am so sorry for the loss of Junior. He gave me my first "real job" and helped teach me the meaning of hard work and doing the job right the first time at the age of 16. He brought me back to work during Christmas in my mid 30s and I think I enjoyed it even more the second time around. He will be missed and the memories I have will not soon fade.

I traveled much in my youth. I was in nine different schools by the time I was in ninth grade. Knowing people and connecting to my community means more to me then most people. Knowing Al and feeling connected to him was easy. He had a ready smile and a good word for everybody. He is a part of the community that became my home and I don't believe he can be replaced. The world will go on but it will be a bit smaller, a bit darker, and a bit less warm without him.

When he was mayor and I was just staring out in my journalism career, I always enjoyed covering his meetings. He was fair and always had a joke. He was a was just a great guy.

Dear Barb and Family,
Junior was one of the kindest people I knew and I always looked for him when I came into your store. And, when he saw you he had that nice smile that he had for you. He always asked how the family was and really cared about you and what you had to say. I will miss talking to him.

Words fall short of expressing our sorrow for your loss. Please except our heartfelt condolences...and may faith help you face each tomorrow.

Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love." Leo Buscaglia

Barb and family. How I rue the days of the farm. Jr. was certainly my mentor and father figure of my life and today I try to pass that along to my children. The stories I can tell. We had a father - son relationship and he was truly a guru. It's saddens me so, and was always upset that I missed him when I come to visit, he's in Florida again. My second family and my deepest sympathy to all. I can always remember my first day when I was hugging those western melon crates " that boy will never be back tomorrow" but lasted longer than all, or the day we had that hail storm and it leveled us, but I told him I'd work for free. He was so touched, of course we got paid. Love you all your former employee Neppy
