Anita Frances Williams Land Anita Frances Williams Land died on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at St. David's Hospital. She was born on January 25, 1924, in Alvin, Texas. She lost both of her parents while she was quite young then lived with her paternal grandparents. After high school, Anita attended and graduated from the John Sealy School of Nursing in Galveston, Texas. After receiving her degree in nursing, she worked as a registered nurse at a hospital in Wharton, Texas. From there, she continued her nursing career at a hospital in Fredericksburg, Texas. There she met John Land, and after a three month courtship, they married on May 1, 1948. They were blessed with two daughters, Teresa Nell Taylor of Longview, Texas, and Marlis Eve Weatherly, who is married to Wesley Clay Weatherly of Port Neches, Texas. The Land's have three grandchildren, Molly Doreen Taylor, Wesley Clint Weatherly and Darla Eve Weatherly, all of Austin. During their 57 years of marriage, Anita and John enjoyed many trips together across the United States and throughout the world. Their life was filled with many happy experiences as a couple and as the strong foundation of a very close family circle. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Tarrytown United Methodist Church at 2601 Exposition Blvd., with Sr. Pastor James L. Mayfield officiating. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park. Honoring Mrs. Land as pallbearers will be Bill Newberry, Bob Prewitt, Scott Carter, Wesley Weatherly, Clint Weatherly and Jim Bedrich. Anita was sweet and thoughtful, a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, beautiful in spirit as one of God's beloved angels on earth.
