Ann passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. She was an inspiration to many as she battled cancer with her positive attitude and sense of humor.
Carolann Strom was born Dec. 23, 1944, at St. Louis Park, Minn., to Carrol J. “Swede” and Eleanor (Griffith) Strom. The family moved to St.
James, Minn., where she grew up, graduating from St. James High School in 1963.
Ann married her high school sweetheart, Keith Steven Anderson, on April 3, 1964. They lived in Sioux Falls, where Ann attended Sioux Falls
College and received her degree in education. She taught elementary school at Hayti and Hazel for three years. Ann and Keith moved to
Watertown and later to Aberdeen.
In 1976, they moved to Britton. Ann then completed her master's degree at Northern State University. She was a guidance counselor and art teacher in the Hecla Public School system for seven years.
In 1995, Ann and her daughter, Mandy, bought Prairie Designs in Britton, where for 13 years she used her creative talents in home decor and
floral design. She loved to golf. Traveling was a special joy. She delighted in gardening and feeding birds. But above all, Ann was a people person and most enjoyed simply having coffee with friends and being a devoted grandmother.
Ann was a member of First Lutheran Church of Britton. She was active in the Britton Area Chamber of Commerce and served as an officer at the Britton Country Club.
Grateful and blessed to have shared her life are her husband of 44 years, Keith Anderson of Britton; son, Scott (Kim Limmex) Anderson of New Orleans, La.; daughter, Amanda “Mandy” (Jami) Carlson of Britton; two grandchildren, Madeline and Colby Carlson; a sister, Peggy (Charlie) Zender of Minneapolis, Minn.; and many wonderful friends.
