Anne Fehn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2024.
It is with immense sadness that the Fehn family announces the passing of their mother, Anne M. (Thole) Fehn, 91, of Evansville, IN. She passed unexpectantly, yet peacefully, on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Deaconess Medical Center.

Anne was born in Evansville, IN on May 13, 1933, to the late Edward Joseph Sr. and Jane (Morton) Thole. Anne was a 1950 graduate of Mater Dei High School. During her junior year at Mater Dei, she won a national literature contest, representing Evansville at the Girl Scout National Convention in Milwaukee WI. During this same time, she was a Cigar Girl with the Junior League of Evansville. A prestigious philanthropy organization raising money through various events including an annual Charity Ball. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority while attending Evansville College.

Over the course of her long life, Anne was employed in a multitude of positions. For many of those early years, Anne worked for the Evansville Catholic Diocese, operating the kitchen and cafeterias at St. Mary's School and then, Christ the King, grade school. While at St. Mary's School Anne, through her own volition, solicited the much-needed funds from the State of Indiana to completely revamp the school's kitchen. She was able to purchase all new equipment including a steam table and the Catholic Diocese very first microwave oven.

During her later years, Anne was then able to procure a position that she truly enjoyed, which, utilized both her passion for decorating and her gift for color coordination, as a merchandiser with Burlington Coat Factory, where she continued to work well into her 80's. Prior to that Anne dedicated nearly two decades of her life to working for G.D. Ritzy's Restaurant.

Anne was a devoted mother to seven children. Often making sacrifices, to ensure, her children did not need to. In addition to her family, Anne will be remembered, above all, for her passion and talent for decorating and her innate ability for cooking. She also thoroughly enjoyed traveling to the beach and loved spending time with her family.

Anne is survived by her children: Michael Fehn, Eric Fehn (Diana), Christopher Fehn (Annette), Greg Fehn (Tami), Annie Hamm (Gabriel), Keith Fehn (Katherine), her sister Jane (Thole) Winn, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her son John M. Fehn III, her parents, her brothers Edward J. Thole Jr., John M. Thole, and her twin sister Mary (Thole) Martin.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service in celebration of Ann's life on July 27th beginning at 11:00am, in the chapel at St. Joeseph Cemetery.
