Anthony Victor Distefano

Anthony Victor Distefano entered into rest Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Buffalo General Hospital. Born August 11, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Victor and Angeline (Alongi) Distefano. Tony was predeceased by his beloved wife, Camille (Scott) Distefano in 2003. Tony worked for the Meat Cutters Union Local 34 as a Union rep. He also worked for Loblaw’s as a meat cutter.Tony served as a City of Lockport Alderman in the 8th Ward from 1980 to 1984. He was a member of the American Legion B. Leo Dolan Post 410, the V.F.W, was a 4th Degree Knight, was a dedicated member of St. Anthony’s Church, where he served on the Holy Name Society. He served on the Credit Committee for Unit No. 1 Credit Union.Tony was active in the Tony Nemi Sportsman League, was very active in coaching and supporting youth organizations, enjoyed being with his family and friends, was an avid bowler, golfer, bocce player, played softball and played semi-pro football for the Lockport Esso’s and was an avid sports and Bills’ fan. Beloved father of Maria (Bill) Wittig of Westchester, PA, Angie (Floyd) Bickett, Tony (Pamela) Distefano of Clarence Center and Rose Ann (Jerry) Velesko. Cherished papa of Steven Wittig, Greg, Jessica and Kristy Bickett, Audra and Justine Distefano and Jacob Velesko. Dear brother of Ann (Michael) DeFranco of Lewiston. Brother-in-law of Rocky Orsini of Binghamton and Peter Scott of Dunkirk. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 PM on Tuesday at the Taylor and Reynolds Funeral Home, 70 Niagara Street, Lockport, where prayers will be held on Wednesday at a time to be announced. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
