Antoine Chronis began his life in Kato, Tithorea, Greece, on October 16, 1929, to a prosperous farming family. As a young child, Antoine would endure World War II and the occupation in his very hometown. Becoming of age, Antoine began his own tour of duty in the Greek Army, and soon went on to graduate as a fully licensed Machinist. He settled in Athens, Greece, where he married his late wife, Stavroula, who bore him his only son. In the early 1960's, Antoine and his family, immigrated to Canada to start a new life. They settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Antoine went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science Chemistry Degree. The greater part of his career was then spent with the Canadian National Railways for the ensuing twenty-five years. Antoine would experience the early and untimely death of his young wife, and upon retiring in his senior years, he relocated to Calgary, Alberta, to be near his son and fulfill his role as grandfather. He is survived by his only son, Theodore, daughter- in-law, Janice, grandson Anthony, second life partner, Pauline, and twin sisters, Eleni and Toula, and many nieces and nephews. Antoine lived a fulfilling and adventurous life and always enjoyed the company of his many devoted friends and loving family. He will be very sadly missed, but never forgotten. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent S.W.) on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent S.W.) on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with The Very Rev. Dimitrios Rougas, Presiding. Graveside Service to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
