August Joseph Heisler

August Joseph Heisler, 92, of St. Augustine, passed away peacefully at the Bailey Family Center for Caring with his family by his side on Feb. 13, 2016. He was born in Clifton, New Jersey, and had lived at Glenmoor in St. Augustine since 1992, moving here from Wayne, New Jersey. Gus was retired from Heisler Machine & Tool, where he served as co-owner and president, as well as engineer, fabricator and inventor. He will be remembered for his joyous personality, genuine generosity to family and friends and a competitive nature in gin rummy and golf. Gus was fortunate to have toured the world sightseeing, hunting and fishing.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2016, at Vander May Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Road, Wayne, New Jersey, followed by an 11 a.m. interment service at Laurel Grove Cemetery, 295 Totowa Road, Totowa, New Jersey.
Gus is survived by his brother, Robert Heisler, of Wayne. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 67 years, Shirley W. Heisler; parents, August Joseph and Irene Pityo Heisler; and brother, Ray. In addition to Shirley, he dedicated his life to his two daughters, Shirley Heisler Howard (Jack), of Frenchtown, New Jersey, and Judy Heisler Morgan (Jack), of Charlotte, North Carolina; and one son, August Joseph Heisler III; as well as eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
