Barbara Ann Gordon

Barbara Ann Jones-Gordon was born January 9, 1952 to Elnora Jones in Houston, Texas. She relocated to
Merced, California, where she attended high school at Merced High, graduating in 1971. She later met and
married Avery Lee Shelton and to this union one child was born, LaShawn Shelton. Barbara and LaShawn
moved to Sacramento, California where Barbara raised LaShawn.

Barbara was employed by the Department of Motor Vehicles for many years. In 1984, at the age
of 33,  Barbara turned her life over to Christ, received the Holy Ghost and was baptized at Christ
Temple Apostolic Church in Sacramento, California.

She had many journeys during her years, but as time moved on, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with
her daughter and grandson. She was very industrious and worked many jobs in the City of Las Vegas, but
before she went home to meet the Lord, she worked as a security officer at the Government Building.

Barbara dedicated her life to helping others and preaching the Word…no matter where. She became a
member of the Joy of Life Ministries, Pastor Marie Andrews, who came to her  side in her last and final days
Barbara came from a very large family of 7 siblings. She was preceded in death by her mother: Elnora Straughter;
grandparents: Hester and Sidney Lewis; and brother: Alton Saseaux.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her only daughter, LaShawn Camille Shelton of Las Vegas, NV; 2 grandsons
Davonte Rule and Patrick Fleming, Jr.; great-granddaughter: Saige Ann Rule; two sisters: Gwendolyn Straughter
of Portland, Oregon and Heidi Straughter of Merced, California; 3 brothers: Terrell Straughter (Tina) of Portgland,
Oregon, Victor Straughter of Merced, California, and Noah Straughter of Portland, Oregon; and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
