Benjamin Atkinson

Benjamin "Benny" Atkinson, 52, of Lower Burrell, passed away Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017. He was born May 1, 1965, in Armstrong County. Benny lived at The Toledo House through Passavant Memorial Homes with three roommates: Buzzy, Matty and Butchie. Benny was a people person and was loved by all who knew him. He was a longtime resident of Passavant, where he built family bonds with many of his staff members, whom he cherished very much. He had a way to make everyone he knew feel very special, giving his friends nicknames and always taking time to ask them how they were. Ben had a great sense of humor and liked to joke with his staff and friends. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy at 7 p.m., the movie "Pollyanna," pizza, chips, ice cream and going out to eat. He also enjoyed going to "school," his day program where he had so many friends, and greeting people and joking with the staff by saying, "you're late." The many people who knew Ben loved him very much and were touched greatly from his love, humor and personality. Benny will be forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. He will be truly missed by his "Sweetheart, Elaine, his support staff and his day program.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 until time of services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, in THE CHARLES B. JARVIE SPRINGDALE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
