Betty Stevens Owen, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 8th, 2016, at the Benton House Assisted Living facility in Douglasville Georgia.
She was born October 5th 1928 in Macon Georgia as Betty Wynell Stevens. She graduated from Girls High in Atlanta Georgia and attended the University of Georgia for one year.
She married Joseph H Owen of Atlanta Georgia on March 6th 1948. Joe and Betty where happily married for sixty eight years.
Betty and Joe have lived in Douglasville since 1978.
Betty worked for the Atlanta Public School system for fifteen years. Her schools included Venetian Hills Elementary, Continental Colony Elementary and Warren T. Jackson Elementary.
Betty was preceded in death by her father Ross Hamilton Stevens, mother Addie Lucille Stevens and sister Cathryn Stevens-Ford.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Owen; daughter Steven Ann Wynn and son-in-law Joe Wynn, son Joseph (Chip) Henry Owen and daughter-in-law and care-giver Cari Washko Owen, grand children: Jessica Owen, Christopher (CJ) Owen, Joe Wynn, John Wynn, great grand children: Drake Wynn, Parker Wynn, Riley Wynn, Brayden Wynn, Grayson Wynn, nieces Paula Ford Birchall and Brenda Ford and cousins Jane, Jean, Evelyn Ethridge.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville on Saturday October 15th. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM. The memorial service will start at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville for the establishment of a Memorial Garden.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that losing a loved one is not easy, but our faith in God's promises can help us get through difficult times like this. I hope you will find comfort in God's promise at John 11:24-25. Knowing that there is a future for those we have lost in death can be very reassuring! -
